A Beloved Daughter

We are so humbled to be part of the story
that the Lord is telling with Lucy Joy’s life.
Even at only eight years old, she has touched many lives with her own.
We count ourselves lucky to be among those that her story has already impacted,
and look forward to the time she can  begin to tell us more of her story
in her own words…

In just 10 days!

Some of you may remember me mentioning that we have been beyond
blessed to receive a special glimpse into Lucy’s life in the form of
pictures, videos, and stories shared by the Sparrow Fund team that
visited her orphanage in October.
I have been sharing blog posts with you that tell some of the
stories of what the team did and experienced.
Here is a special story told better than I could have
every told it by someone who was there.

Sing to the Lord, for he has done
glorious things;
let this be known to all the world!!!!
Isaiah 12:5

  1. Wow, you are so right about bringing the tissues! That story is so precious and I had to watch the video of Lucy saying her name over and over. She is just beautiful! I called Clyde in and we read the story again and he was so touched. We are so happy for all of you and can’t wait to meet our newest granddaughter! Praise God for his mercy and love! We are praying for a safe trip for you and are eagerly anticipating your arrival back home!

  2. WOW. Just read that post and I can’t see through my tears to type this. I can’t even imagine how you all felt as this was shared with you. What an amazing blessing. What a beautiful, beautiful daughter you have. God is so good.
We are going crazy here waiting…..we cannot wait to see her in your arms.
    Love you all!

    • Kelly,
You should read the comment that came in just after yours from Richard Thayer. Every time I think that I have caught my breath and absorbed all that God is doing… another wonderful story is told to us!

  3. GULP! I opened this at breakfast here in Los Angeles and I and I thought that was a mistake…it brought tears to my eyes. The waitress noticed and I pointed to a pictture of Lucy and said this is my new granddaughter and told her just a bit anout her story. She watched Lucy say her name and she joined in with my emotions…(she was from Mexico), but had a good understanding of what was transpiring. She later returned with the manager who was Chinese, he wanted to see Lucy…after reading he claped his hands and said God is good!!! He is a Chinese christian who made his way to America. He wanted to pray for you guys…you are know to him as the “Omaha Family”. God is Very Good. Bless you guys for this venture in your (our) lives.

  4. What excitement on 2 sides of the Pacific! Praying that all the necessary papers and details and flight arrangements will be accomplished without complication. Lucy is beautiful!

  5. Wow! Tears started to swell up in my eyes when I was reading the comments here, even before I went on to read the story!

What a powerful love story of God through the Rothfuss and the Sparrow people! Can easily relate to how God adopts us into His family and the joy that fills the hearts!
The Lord bless you with a joy-filled trip and protect you on your coming and going.

  6. Deeply moving. The other orphans are selfless in sharing Lucy’s joy of her future family. One of the hardest parts of our adoption journey was saying goodbye to the remaining orphans who looked at us with such longing in their eyes. Thank you for rescuing this precious little girl!
